Meet the Tai Chi Instructor Dr. Barry L Silverman
Dr. Silverman has studied 3 of the major styles of Tai Chi Chuan: Chen style, Sun style and Yang style, including both hand and weapons forms. He teaches both Sun and Yang styles of Tai Chi in his classes. Dr. Silverman has also been certified by Dr. Paul Lam and Tai Chi for Health to teach Tai Chi for Arthritis and Tai Chi for back pain.
Irene Reinke has been a life long student of movement and dance. She studied Kempo Karate for several years, was director of an American Tribal Style bellydance troupe and dance instructor for 15 years, and continues to perform publicly. She has studied Flamenco and Argentina Tango, as well as enjoying other forms of social dance, and also teaches zydeco classes.
Dr. Barry Silverman, Chief Instructor
Dr. Barry L. Silverman is the founder and chief instructor of 3 Treasures Tai Chi. He holds a 2nd degree Black Sash awarded by Master Li Pei Yun. Dr. Silverman has also been certified by Dr. Paul Lam and Tai Chi for Health to teach Tai Chi for Arthritis and Tai Chi for back pain.
He has been studying Tai Chi Quan (Tai Chi) for the past 34 years and teaching Tai Chi for the past 20 years. Dr. Silverman has studied 3 of the 5 major styles of Tai Chi: Chen, Sun, and Yang style. He teaches both Yang and Sun styles, Qi Gong and both hand and weapon forms in his classes.
As a competitor of many Chinese martial arts tournaments over the past 20 years, Dr. Silverman has medalled often: including 4 gold medals at the First Hong Kong International Wushu Competition, 3 gold and a silver medal at the 20th Annual Berkley Martial Arts Tournament and won numerous gold, silver, and bronze medals at various US International Kuoshu, New England, Malee, and other International Chinese Martial Arts Championship Tournaments over the years.
Practicing, competing and teaching Tai Chi over the years has become a passion for Dr. Silverman. It has enriched his life immeasurably as a martial art, as an exercise for health and fitness and as a spiritual practice.

Goals and Objectives of Teaching Tai Chi
Our objective is to allows students to experience Tai Chi in a simple, natural and enjoyable way. Through a peaceful and focused class setting, Dr. Silverman presents Tai Chi as a prescription for health and as the physical manifestation of traditional Taoist philosophy. Anyone, regardless of age or physical ability can practice Tai Chi since Tai Chi emphasizes technique over strength and using internal energy development rather than external force.
